The following additional services and options are available. Courtyard Ceremony:
White chairs will be set up for your guests in the rear courtyard for your wedding ceremony which will be performed under the courtyard gazebo. If you become concerned about the weather, we can quickly move the ceremony indoors. Dance Floor Lighting Package:
Professional quality stage lights consisting of sound activated lights and laser lights. Chapel Up Lighting and Bar Lighting Package:
Multi-colored LED lights shine up the arched ceiling for the entire length of the chapel and in the bar area. Up to 10 different colors of your choosing. GoBo Lighting Package:
Computer controlled projector allows for multiple applications including projection of couple’s initials on the dance floor or different colored spotlights for first dance. Ask Phillip for more detailed information. PA System:
Wireless hand held and clip on microphones are provided for use during the wedding ceremony and for bridal party speeches in the chapel. If the ceremony is held in the courtyard a portable PA system will be set up outside in addition to the inside chapel system. Slide Show in Bar:
If you provide us with a flash drive with your pictures, we will show them as a continuous slide show on the two TV monitors in the bar. Guest Wi-Fi:
An additional Wi-Fi router will be turned on for your guests to use to send Instagram, Snapchat, pictures, tweets, etc. of your ceremony and reception. Courtyard Fire Pits:
Two propane fire pits will be made available for up to 2 hours. The fire pit may be used as a S’mores bar. S’more supplies can be provided by Russo’s catering as an optional item. Security Guard:
You might consider this option if you are concerned about rowdy guests. The CWE business district has extra police patrols and officers on bicycles that are continuously riding past our venue and we notify the local community relations office of all of our events requesting additional patrols at the end of your event. However, if requested we can contract for an off-duty police officer to be stationed outside. Cigar Bar:
High top tables will be provided under the portico for your cigar vendor. Ceremony Rehearsal Practice:
A member of our staff will walk you through a 45 minute rehearsal of your ceremony. Rehearsal Dinner:
Small venue and ancillary rooms rental for 3 hours. Catering fees are additional through Russo’s catering. Ceremony Rehearsal fee is waived if done in conjunction with this option. Day After Brunch:
Venue rental for the morning following your ceremony. Catering fees are in addition through Russo’s. This is a great way to say goodbye to your closest friends and out of town guests. Early Access for Decorating:

We have found that a professional wedding coordinator makes the event easier on everyone. If you hire a professional wedding coordinator, we will give you $200.00 in free options.

Q. When can I expect a return phone call after I send a request for information?
A. Within 24 hours, however our office is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Q. How far in advance should I book our wedding venue?
A. If you just have to have a Saturday during the 6 most popular months, then you probably need to book at least 18 months in advance. Fridays and off season Saturdays can usually be found with only 9 months advance booking.
Q. Is there an extra charge to have our ceremony at the venue?
A. No. There is no additional fee to have your ceremony during the rental time. There is no discount for not having your ceremony, you just have more time for cocktails, dinner and dancing.
Q. Can we provide our own food or use a different caterer?
A. No. All food must be provided by our exclusive caterer Russo’s Catering.
Q. Can we provide our own liquor and beverages?
A. No. All liquor and beverages must be provided by Russo’s Catering. Russo’s provides all glassware and bartenders. Russo’s pricing includes premium liquor at The McPherson unless you request otherwise.
Q. Can Russo’s provide ethnic food?
A. Yes. Russo’s has experience providing many different ethnic foods.
Q. Can we have an outside ceremony?
A. Yes. We have a 5,000 sf courtyard in the rear with a pergola and chandelier.
Q. Can we have an outside reception?
A. Maybe. There are residential noise restrictions and all loud music must cease by 10:00.
Q. Who supplies the tables and chairs?
A. We provide all tables (round or rectangular) and all chairs. The chairs are X back chairs which are much more comfortable and attractive than the standard venue chairs.
Q. Who provides the linens and tableware?
A. Russo’s provides all linens and tableware. Russo’s uses only glassware and china at The McPherson – no plastic. Contact them for available colors & options.
Q. Can we extend or change the hours of our event?
A. Yes. The rental time is 5 hours but you can add additional time or adjust the start time.
Q. Is the parking lot included in the venue rental?
A. Yes. The parking lot and an attendant is included in the venue rental.
Q. Is the bridal suite and groom’s room included in the venue rental?
A. Yes. However, there is an additional charge for extra early access.
Q. Can I add or delete options after we sign our rental contract?
A. Yes. You can add and delete options subject to certain time limitations.
Q. If something horrible happens and I have to cancel my event, can I get a refund?
A. Maybe. We will make every attempt to find a new party that wants your date and if we are successful you will get a significant amount of your payment refunded.
Q. Where can my out of town guests stay?
A. The Parkway Hotel offers discounts to our clients and a free shuttle service to the venue. There are several AirBNBs within a few blocks. Chase Park Plaza and Holiday Inn are very close.
Q. Where can we take bridal party pictures?
A. Forest Park, Tower Grove Park, Missouri Botanical Gardens or our rear courtyard.
Q. Can I use my own florist, DJ, band, limo service, etc?
A. Yes. We just require them to call us in advance to discuss logistics.
Q. Are there bars nearby for after reception parties?
A. Yes. There are 7 bar/restaurants within 1.5 blocks and 12 additional bars 4 blocks away.
Q. Does Missouri charge sales tax on venue rentals?
A. Yes. Unfortunately, the state has decided that venue rentals are subject to sales tax.
Q. If we choose to have a ceremony rehearsal, when can I schedule it?
A. Tuesday, and Thursday 12:30 to 5:30. Friday 12:30 to 4:00. Saturday 12:30 to 2:00. Other days and times by appointment only based of staff availability and other scheduled events.
Q. Will my elderly guests have easy access?
A. Yes. The McPherson has all new main floor restrooms that are ADA compliant. Five of our six entrances are ADA accessible. All of the reception space is on the main level.
Q. Is use of the courtyard included in the venue rental?
A. Yes. There is no charge for the courtyard for cocktail hour or pictures, however there is an additional fee for chair rental if you intend to have your ceremony outside.
Q. When do I have to pay for my venue space rental?
A. A deposit of $2,000 is due when your contract is signed. The balance is due 2 months later. Payment for any additional services added after that time is due 2 weeks prior to your event.
Q. Do I need to have valet parking?
A. Absolutely not. We have more than enough parking for you guests. Other venues that do not have parking lots may charge you up to $700 for a valet service.
Q. According to Brides magazine, what is the second most common complaint from wedding guests?
A. Long lines at the bar! We have 2 separate bars and if you have more than 100 guests, we recommend that you consider asking Russo’s to provide one additional bartender during the cocktail hour. An inexpensive extra to insure that your guests enjoy your celebration.
Q. Do you have a designated smoking area?
A. Yes. Cigarette smoking is permitted at the outside bar which has a large covered area that can be enclosed in cold weather. No smoking is allowed inside the building. If you want a cigar bar it would be set up in our drive-thru portico.
Q. Will there be other events at the venue during my wedding?
A. No. Your wedding and reception will be the only event and you will be allowed to use all parts of the venue for the entire evening. This is your day and you will not have to share it with strangers.
Q. I see that your courtyard is completed and looks great, but what additional work will be done to it?
A. We just completed the installation of (a) market lights from the wedding pergola to the building and (b) a chandelier and sconces have been added to the wedding pergola and (c) several flower planting beds have been added and (d) ivy has been planted to cover the fence and brick walls. Throughout the summer and fall of 2018 an additional 200 sf of flower planting beds will be adding as well as additional low voltage lighting. Feel free to stop by and watch our progress.
Q. How long does it take to set up the main hall for the reception after the ceremony?
A. It has been done in as little as 30 minutes, but what is the rush. Let your guests enjoy the cocktail hour and plan on 45-60 minutes to turn the room. We have plenty of both indoor and outdoor spaces for your guests to enjoy while the room is being set up. If you have an outdoor ceremony, the main hall will already be set up for your reception.
